Tom barked out a peel of nervous laughter, rubbing his hands down over his face, feeling the heat pour off his own skin with another surge of hysteria.

"This isn't this easy," he said, but the protest, all to familiar in his own mouth, was barely even half hearted. They'd jumped off the ledge a long time ago, and this just felt like another inevitable moment of free fall.
