He gasps when it happens. It's not loud, just a sharp little hiss of breath, and he can't hold it back. Just for a moment he's literally shocked; he'd been expecting obedience, maybe, but on this level...

Hobbes is anticipating him. That's new.

And the thing is, even anticipation is disobedience.

"I didn't tell you to do that either," he says quietly. "Look at me." His hands are still in those loose fists, but every muscle is tense.
